The Marlins announced on Wednesday that Dan Straily will begin a rehab assignment with Class A Advanced Jupiter on Friday in Daytona Beach.

Despaigne back to bullpen for 4-man rotation

Just when it appeared the Marlins had set all five rotation spots, the organization has shifted things up a little bit. Odrisamer Despaigne, who opened the season as the No. 3 starter, is now in the bullpen, and prospect Trevor Richards will stick in the rotation.

In sophomore season with Miami, limited to just five starts and nine total appearances after missing majority of season with left arm fatigue. Finished with 2-1 record and 3.82 ERA (33.0 ip/14 er)... Opened season on 25-man roster, but made just five starts before beginning DL stint on May 5. Reinstated on September 4, after which he made just four relief appearances before being shut down with left elbow discomfort following outing on Sept. 22... Best start of the year came on April 18 at Seattle, holding Mariners hitless over 7.0 innings while striking out two and issuing just two walks. Marked first start of career holding an opponent hitless. Previous low-hit start was one, done on June 2, 2016 vs. Pittsburgh (6.0 ip)... Allowed season-high tying seven hits, with four runs and two walks, along with three strikeouts, over 5.0 innings on April 26 at Philadelphia. Loss marked first and only defeat of season...
