ST. LOUIS -- MLB's blocking the plate rule came into question in the fourth inning on Saturday afternoon at Busch Stadium.

On a terrific defensive play by St. Louis pitcher Shelby Miller and catcher Yadier Molina, Miami's Marcell Ozuna was tagged out on a squeeze play by Andrew Heaney.

Heaney dropped the bunt on the grass in front of home plate. Miller charged and made an underhand flip to Molina, who applied the tag on Ozuna, who attempted a headfirst slide to the back of the plate. Umpire Clint Fagan immediately signaled out.

Miami manager Mike Redmond asked for the play to be reviewed to see if there was a violation of Rule 7:13, which involves the blocking of home plate.

Officially, it was a crew-chief review. After two minutes and 15 seconds, the ruling was that the call stands.

It was a crucial play at the time, because the game was tied at 1.
