PHILADELPHIA -- Marlins shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria sat for the third straight game on Monday night as he recovers from some right elbow soreness.
Hechavarria, who is batting .272 with 17 RBIs and 25 runs scored, was expected to return to the lineup on Monday, but manager Mike Redmond wanted to give him one more day of rest.
"I thought he was going to be OK, ready to go. He felt like he needed one more day with his arm," Redmond said. "He was going to hit today, do all baseball activities. He should be fine."
Ed Lucas made his third consecutive start at shortstop for Miami.
