MIAMI -- In recent years, Marlins president David Samson has competed in triathlons and several marathons. As a tribute to the workers who built Marlins Park, he ran 52 miles to raise money for various charities.

An accomplished runner, Samson now has another interesting distinction. The 45-year-old is a contestant on the hit reality TV show, "Survivor."

CBS on Wednesday announced the cast for "Survivor: Cagayan," which premieres with a two-hour episode on Feb. 26.

The series was filmed in the Philippines last summer, which is why Samson was away from the ballclub for an extended period. His participation was kept secret for several months.

"Survivor: Cagayan" has a different format than previous installments. Instead of two competing tribes, there will be three teams -- Beauty, Brawn and Brains.

Samson, who has a law degree, is on the Brains squad. But don't think the physical challenges will be too much for him.

Coupled with his smarts is an impressive background in conditioning.

In 2006, Samson finished the prestigious Ford Ironman World Championship triathlon in Hawaii. He's also ran the New York City and Boston marathons.
