Marlins Park wins gold in the IIDA Mid America Design Awards

MIAMI (May 28, 2013) - Marlins Park received the Gold Award for the Sports and Recreation category during the IIDA Mid America Design Awards (MADA).

"After receiving awards for our green efforts, construction and design excellence, we are honored to be recognized for the interior design work at Marlins Park," said Claude Delorme, Marlins EVP of Ballpark Operations and Events. "It continues to highlight the details and attention we dedicated to all facets of our venue."

The Mid America Design Awards (MADA) is a biennial event that recognizes excellence in Interior Design.   Design firms submit projects from numerous market sectors, and compete for outstanding recognition among their peers. Award winners will be honored for exceptional work in the Design and Architecture profession. Project judging is based upon innovation, functionality, implementation of design through use of materials, color, balance, and light and overall design intent. A panel of nationally distinguished judges makes the selections.

"Populous-designed Marlins Park received the Gold Award in the Sports + Recreation category at the 2013 IIDA Mid-America Design Awards (MADA)," said Greg Sherlock, Principal, Populous. "Marlins Park, which opened in March of 2012, was recognized for its vibrant design, high quality interior spaces and innovative design approach. The awards, held every other year, honor exceptional interior design projects in the Mid-America region in categories including retail, civic and government, corporate, education, hospitality and healthcare. Populous was previously awarded Gold in Hospitality for Arrowhead Stadium during the 2011 award ceremony."
