The Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation and the Marlins Foundation will award two (2) scholarships to deserving local students pursuing a career in the food and beverage industry. The awards ceremony will take place from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Don Camarón Restaurant located in Miami (501 NW 37th Avenue).

"As a proud Cuban-American born and raised in Miami, I am honored to give back to my community by providing local students with the opportunity to maximize their culinary experience and accomplish their career goals," said Miguel Alvarez, President of the Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation.

The Hispanic Food & Beverage Foundation (HFBF) is dedicated to providing high school and college students with the tools and resources necessary to enable them to achieve their highest potential. HFBF provides worthy students the opportunity to advance their education and develop their talents by providing financial assistance, professional mentoring, internship placement, career guidance and networking opportunities.

The Marlins gift is part of a corporate scholarship match that supports local family-owned businesses in their efforts to provide college scholarships to deserving youth in our community. "Miami is internationally recognized as a leader in hospitality management and culinary expertise. The Marlins Foundation is committed to finding as many opportunities as possible for our students to succeed in the areas that are connected to the economic development of Miami. The Hispanic Food and Beverage Foundation is leading the way for young people in South Florida to match their vocations with a career that has jobs ready for them right here in our great city, " said Alfredo Mesa, Executive Director of the Marlins Foundation.
