Marlins open 2013 home schedule

The Miami Marlins are set to open the 2013 home schedule by hosting the Atlanta Braves (April 8-10), Philadelphia Phillies (April 12-14) and the Washington Nationals (April 15-17) at Marlins Park. The nine-game homestand will feature two fan giveaways (all fans will receive a 2013 Magnetic Schedule courtesy of Miccosukee Resort and Gaming on Opening Night and the first 15,000 fans will receive a 2013 Marlins Calendar courtesy of Leon Medical Centers on Sunday April 14). Opening Night festivities will include a pre-game on field ceremony featuring a video on Marlins Vision commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Marlins franchise as well as the 10th anniversary of the 2003 World Series. Jeff Conine, Mr. Marlin, will throw out the ceremonial ball in from left field to Mike Lowell at 3rd base, who will throw it to catcher Rob Brantly. Post-game entertainment will feature a Fireworks Spectacular presented by CAC Florida Medical Centers and a West Plaza party with live music and the Marlins Energy Team.
 
The first homestand of the season will feature great ticket offers like the Opening Night Bonus Ticket Special, where fans who purchase a ticket will receive a bonus ticket to any 2013 home game in April or May. Also, on Monday, April 8 military personnel and all local first responders with I.D. can claim free tickets at the Marlins Park box office as part of South Florida Heroes Mondays. Also, fans can get the Marlins All You Can Eat Special for just $22, which includes a Vista Level ticket and all you can eat hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, nachos, sodas and water. All You Can Eat seats in the Legends Level are also available for $32 each. Fans can also take advantage of the Pepsi Can offer, where fans can bring proof of a Pepsi product purchase and get their choice of a $5 ticket in Vista Reserved, Vista Box or Home Run Porch or $10 in Legends Silver. The series against the Braves continues on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:10 P.M. Fans can take advantage of the Miami Herald Half Priced Tuesday offer and get half priced tickets in Legends Silver, Baseline Reserved, Bullpen Reserved and Home Run Porch on any Tuesday home game in 2013.   
 
On Wednesday, April 10 all kids 12 and under can eat free. After an off day, the Marlins will face off against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, April 12 at 7:10 P.M. fans will enjoy Dominican Heritage Night to pay homage to Dominican culture, heritage and music throughout the game including pre-game ceremonies, complementary Dominican Flags, and merengue hits. Post-game entertainment will feature performances by Oro Solido in the West Plaza. Fans will also enjoy Fireworks Friday, which includes a pregame party on the West Plaza and immediately following the game fans can enjoy a Fireworks Show over Marlins Park from the comfort of their seats.  As part of Fireworks Fridays fans can purchase the Sir Pizza 4-Pack, which includes four (4) Vista Box tickets, four (4) personal Sir Pizzas and four (4) Pepsi soft drinks, all for $60 and available on every Friday night home game.
 
The three-game series continues on Saturday, April 13 at 7:10 P.M. with a post-game concert with Willy Chirino.  This Saturday will feature pre-game entertainment on the West Plaza from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. and an autograph session with a Marlins player inside the New Era Team Store from 6:00 to 6:20 P.M. The All-You-Can-Eat Seats will also be available on Saturday Spectaculars, for just $27 in Vista Reserved or $37 in Legends Silver.  Like Mondays, menu items will include Kayem Beef Franks, Peanuts, Popcorn, Nachos, Pepsi Sodas, and Aquafina Water.
 
On Family Sunday, April 14 the first 15,000fans will receive a 2013 Marlins Calendar presented by Leon Medical Centers. During Snapshot Sunday on the Promenade Level, fans can take photos with a Marlins player from 12 P.M. to 12:20 P.M. SOUTH FLORIDA HEROES OF THE GAME: Savannah's Soldiers is a letter writing campaign started by grade school student Savannah Madison. They collect letters from kids across America and continue to send them to brave men and woman all year long until they all come home. As part of South Florida Heroes Mondays, the Miami Marlins will honor a current police officer, first responder, and armed forces member during the game; pitcher Mike Dunn will be presenting them with an award. 4-H is a volunteer led youth development program of the Miami-Dade County Cooperative Extension Service.  Established in Florida in 1909, 4-H has over 6.5 million members in the United States, 240,000 members in Florida, and over 10,000 in Miami-Dade County. 4-H membership is open to all children, ages 5 to 18.   Through hands-on, informal education and project studies, 4-H members develop life skills such as teamwork, leadership, communication and citizenship to become responsible and productive community members.
 
MARLINS MASTERPIECE HOLIDAY ART SERIES: The Grand Prize winner from the Marlins Masterpieces Holiday Series, Yuniesky Fonseca, will arrive in time to watch batting practice from the field. As part of the pre-game ceremonies, the grand prize and two honorable mentions will be honored on the field with their art work displayed on Marlins Vision as well as receive an autographed item from a Marlins player. The winner is Yuniesky Fonseca, 8th grader at Citrus Grove Middle School. YOUTH BASEBALL DAY: On Sunday, April 14th, we will be having Youth Baseball Day at Marlins Park. About 4,000 kids are expected to attend and make their way onto the field (Pre-game) for the Youth Baseball Day Parade. Kids still have a chance to participate in the parade, as we will be hosting two additional parades on Sunday, May 19th and Sunday, June 2nd.
 
DIAMOND DASH:  After every Marlins Family Sunday, kids 12 and under get to run the bases on the field in the Marlins Diamond Dash. We ask that children do not slide at any base or Home Plate for their own safety.  Billy's Bunch kids club members can present their 2012 membership card in order to move up to the Diamond Dash Fast Lane.

JACKIE ROBINSON DAY: The Marlins will celebrate Jackie Robinson Day on Monday, April 15, 2013. The Marlins Foundation along with Norman Berman, bat boy for the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers, will present a scholarship check for $4,200 to the Jackie Robinson Foundation, represented Jackie Robinson Foundation scholarship recipient who will throw out the ceremonial First Pitch.

As part of South Florida Heroes Mondays, the Miami Marlins will honor a current police officer, first responder, and armed forces member during the game; pitcher Mike Dunn will be presenting them with an award. Prior to the game they will have a private meet and greet with Marlins players.
