MIAMI -- The Marlins' annual tradition of reaching out to the community continues during the holiday season.
Less than a week away from Thanksgiving, the organization on Friday afternoon embarked on a turkey drive, distributing more than 1,000 meals to less fortunate families in South Florida.
Families were chosen based on need, and the turkey drive kicks off the Marlins' community organizational initiatives.
Selected families received turkey, fixings and desserts.
