FISH ‘N CHIPS will benefit the Marlins Foundation’s youth baseball initiatives. All proceeds will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs baseball programs and Marlins RBI, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities. Both programs are designed to promote interest in baseball, develop self-esteem and social responsibility in underserved and disadvantaged areas of South Florida.
Earlier in the day at 3 P.M., the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame will announce their 2013 class at Marlins Park. Representatives and inductees of the Latino Baseball Hall of Fame 2013 class will join Fish ‘N Chips in celebration of the announcement. Among the Latino legends in attendance are Dennis Martinez, Mike Lowell, Tony Taylor, Andres Galarraga, Minnie Miñoso, Tony Perez, Octavio "Cookie" Rojas, Tony Fernandez, David Concepcion, Felipe Rojas Alou, Benito Santiago, Tony Armas, Sr., Rolando Arrojo, Victor Davalillo and Rafael “Felo” Ramirez.
“This marquee event will raise much needed funds to continue the Marlins commitment to youth baseball in our community.” said PJ Loyello, Senior Vice President of Communications and Broadcasting. “We feel strongly about the importance of teaching children about leadership and teamwork through baseball.”
