MANAGERIAL/COACHING CAREER:
Jeff Livesey is beginning his sixth season as a Major League coach, his first in Miami...Joins the Marlins' staff as assistant hitting coach after serving the last two seasons in the same role for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Was Pittsburgh's Major League Coach from 2014-'16...In 2018, Pirates' batters ranked sixth in the National League in average (.254) and eighth in slugging (.407), while ranking third in doubles (290)...Spent 16 seasons as a coach in Pittsburgh organization...Was Minor League Hitting Coordinator from 2011-'13 prior to joining Major League staff... Returned to Pirates in 2011 after five-year stint as a coach in Japan...Was bench coach for Hiroshima Carp from 2006-'09 and held same role for Rakuten Eagles in 2010...In 2005 Jeff was the manager for the Gulf Coast League Pirates, where he led the Baby Bucs to a 28-26 record and a second-place finish in his only season as a Minor League skipper...He also worked in the same capacity with Double-A Altoona (1999-2000), Triple-A Nashville (2001, 2004) and again with Lynchburg (2002-2003), where he watched Hillcat hitters lead the Carolina League in hitting and home runs each year...Tenure with the Pirates organization began in 1998 when he served as the Hitting Coach with Lynchburg in the Carolina League...Prior to joining the Pirates, Livesey spent two seasons (1996- 1997) as the Hitting Coach for Montreal's Double-A affiliate in Harrisburg while the Senators captured the Eastern League championship each year.

PLAYING CAREER:
Selected by New York-AL in the 13th round of the 1988 MLB First-Year Player Draft...Livesey was a catcher in the Yankees system for eight years, hitting .217 (373-for-1090) with 16 home runs and 102 RBI in 373 career games; he also made three appearances at first base, two in the outfield and one at third base. Jeff retired in 1995 after spending the whole year at Columbus (AAA).

Jeffrey William Livesey (Live-zee)...wife's name is Christine... has two children; son Hudson (8/9/99) and daughter Chase (6/12/02)....is a 1984 graduate of Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque, NJ, where he played baseball, football and was on the wrestling team for two years...is a member of the Lakeland High School Baseball Hall-of-Fame...received a degree in business finance as a 1988 Auburn University graduate.
