Tim Wallach


Tim Wallach begins fourth season as Miami's bench coach, and fifth consecutive season under Don Mattingly as bench coach...Prior to serving as bench coach under Mattingly with Dodgers, was Dodgers' third base coach from 2011-13... Managed Dodgers' Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes for two seasons (2009-10) guiding them to a 152-135 (.530) overall record...Led Isotopes to American Southern Division title in 2009 and franchise-record 80 wins after a three-year absence from baseball. Named Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year, as well as Baseball America's "Best Manager Prospect"...In first Major League coaching position, spent two years as Dodgers' hitting coach (2004-05)... Managed Single-A Rancho Cucamonga in Angels' organization in 2001...Coached at alma mater, Cal State University, Fullerton, in 2000.. Served as hitting coach for Dodgers' Single-A San Bernardino club in 1997 and 1998. Took over managerial duties for San Bernardino during final two and a half months of 1998 campaign.


Played 17 seasons in Major Leagues with Montreal (1980-92), Los Angeles (1993-96) and California (1996), batting .257 with 2,085 hits, 260 home runs and 1,125 RBI...Was five-time National League All-Star with Montreal and earned three Rawlings® Gold Glove Awards at third base...Led Major League Baseball with a career-high 42 doubles in 1987. Two years later, led NL and tied previous career high with 42 doubles...Won two Silver Slugger Awards and is Montreal/Washington's all-time franchise leader with 1,694 hits, 360 doubles, 905 RBI and 1,767 games.


Timothy Charles Wallach and his wife of 34 years, Lori, reside in Yorba Linda, CA…inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014...Dodgers drafted each of his three sons: Matt (2007, 22nd round), Brett (2009, third round) and Chad (2010, 43rd round, did not sign)…Matt played in Dodgers' system 2007- 2013, Brett played in Dodgers' system from 2009-2010 and Chad is currently a catcher in the Marlins' system…was an inductee into Cal State Fullerton's inaugural Titan Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005…received Ray Boone Family Award at 2012 Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation banquet…was elected to College Baseball Hall of Fame in February 2011…won USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award and Sporting News College Player of the Year award in 1979 when he led Titans to school's first NCAA Division I title.
